Eastside Cities: Bothell

Once lumber and shingle production fueled the local economy of this community located northeast of Lake Washington. In 1992, Bothell annexed Canyon Park, a high-tech center at the junction of I-405 and the Bothell-Everett Highway and today, Bothell is the center of the I-405 Technology Corridor. Economic development is a high priority in this city. From cozy cafes to global corporations, Bothell offers a highly skilled workforce, no Business & Occupation Tax, commuter accessibility and transportation, available and affordable commercial properties in prime locations, and an improved, award-winning permit process.

Outside Bothell's commercial districts you'll find rolling wooded hillsides and quiet residential neighborhoods. This community prizes its hometown atmosphere and remains rural at heart, yet residents enjoy the convenience of nearby businesses, retail centers and employment opportunities.

The city is also well known for its educational facilities. Currently extension programs are offered through the University of Washington and Shoreline Community College. Additional educational resources are available at the University of Washington Bothell/Cascadia Community College Campus.

Bothell offers ample recreational opportunities. The Sammamish River Trail is enjoyed by thousands of canoeists, kayakers, walkers, joggers, and bicyclists, and there is easy access to the Burke-Gilman Trail. A 2.7-mile walking history tour called the "Town-Gown Loop" links the University of Washington Bothell/Cascadia Community College Campus to the downtown area which is filled with quaint shops and restaurants.

Median Sold Prices 2007: Homes $457,500; Condos $263,700
